Mad Men is back! Of all the things to love about this show, I most enjoy the wardrobe and hair on each episode. Cat-eye liner is not going out of style anytime soon, nor will the bold red lips and 60’s inspired dresses.
I’ve noticed the clean, side parted hairstyles on men in magazines and in window displays quite a bit. My male clients that come into the salon seem to know what’s in style, as they’ve been asking for this more sophisticated look as of late.
I’m excited to see how Megan’s look will become more fashion-forward now that she’s upgraded her title from “Receptionist” to “Mrs. Draper”! Does anyone else have “Zou Bisou Bisou” stuck in their head?!
This week I enjoyed a trip up to L.A. to join the talented VoCE team in styling the models for Tuesday’s show. If you’ve seen the event space The Vibiana, you can visualize what a perfect backdrop it was for the beautiful designs and hairstyles in this week’s fashion shows. Loose, textured waves are obviously here to stay, as seen on the runway for XCVI:
On the model above, I used VoCE’s workable “Touch Me” hairspray – just the right amount of hold to still allow the perfect amount of movement.
One of my favorite XCVI designs of the night was this incredible dress. The cream colored, crocheted fabric looked so comfortable and wearable:
What a great show and styling team to be a part of! I also have to say the entertainment was ridiiiiiculous (in a good way). I’ll let you in on a secret obsession of mine…violin music. I almost died of joy when this happened:
…I’m not quite sure if this is actually observed by others but I sure make it a point to celebrate every March!
If you haven’t been in the salon to see me yet, March is the month to make it happen. Set up your first appointment to receive a complimentary haircut with the purchase of a color service!
If you’ve already been in to see me, you also have the opportunity to receive a free cut – for every two people you send to me at Hyde Edwards, your haircut is on me.
Happy “Good Hair” Month!
Channeling my inner Chris Harrison, I’d like to let you ladies know that no roses will be handed out right now. I want to take this time to re-asses the girls left on the show, since we’re about to head into the very serious hometown dates.
Lindzi: She’s too cute to wear so much makeup, and I’d love to see her hair darker and styled with a side part. She brings cheerful energy to the date, and stays out of the drama.
Kacie B: I love that she wore her hair curly in Belize. If you’ve got texture in your hair, and your vacationing in a humid place, ya just gotta rock that natural texture. Kacie seems so sweet, I just wish she was able to take advantage of the fun surroundings instead of getting so emotional about Ben!
Nicki: I think she may get the boot tonight.
Courtney: Courtney sure knows how to win this thing. She’s not wasting time making friends or waiting for Ben to come to her, she’s demanding attention. And let’s get serious here, if she weren’t on this season would we still be this into it?!
I also have to point out some memorable scenes of departed women…
Jamie trying to show Ben how sexy she can be: First of all there’s no doubt in my mind Jamie can be sexy, but in that awkward moment of splitting her dress and directing their kiss…I have never felt so uncomfortable. Pretty sure I was blushing.
Blakeley kicking butt on the Baseball field: I did not see this coming at all…girly girl cocktail waitress diving for the ball/hitting it out of the park/hustling her butt off. She showed another side to herself on this episode, a side I had a girl crush on.
Can’t wait for tonight!
