“I Do”…Want Wedding-Worthy Hair

June 1, 2010

Wedding season is upon us, and it doesn’t matter if you’re the bride, mother-of-the-bride, or a guest, it’s time to start thinking about your hair. Wedding day is a day when you are bound to be in a picture or two (or all of them), so it’s not an option to have a bad hair day.

Especially as the bride, it’s important to realize that you’ll be photographed from all angles. Does your hair look the way you want from straight on? From the side? Even from the back? People will be taking picures of you standing at the altar, dancing, and from angles you may not plan for. Styles can look great in person when they are seen in 3-D, but maybe not as good in photos. Think about this when deciding on a hair style.

This season wedding ‘dos are more casual. Brides want to feel like themselves on their big day, not an overly done-up, unrecognizable version. Here are some styles that are great for this season, yet still timeless:

Uma’s style is simple, but with that bit of texture, it adds interest. This updo will photopraph great from the front because you’ll still see some loose pieces around the front. Dimensional highlights emphasize the texture even more.

Much like the previous style, Eva’s updo shows off great texture. With more defined curls, this one is a bit more traditional. Also, this version looks great with a part. This can be modified with a side part and would still look great with long sweeping bangs.

This half-updo is beautiful and classic. There are so many variations with this style depending on length, volume desired, and whether or not you have bangs.

For brides who want to wear their hair down, Tori’s style a great option. Having your hair swept to one side, gives a down-do a special element. Also, depending on the angle you’re photographed from, you’ll look as though you had multiple hairstyles that day.

Even if you are a woman who doesn’t enjoy putting a lot of time and effort into your hair, realize that you are going to to look back at these pictures for the rest of your life. Pictures can be less forgiving because it’s not possible to see all the facets of you in a photo. Therefore, it’s that much more important to step your game up for the wedding day!
